Harford County Health Department provides the following tobacco use prevention and cessation related services:
Pre-Quit Class
A two-hour pre-quit class is offered to Harford County residents. It is geared to: help clients understand nicotine dependence/addiction; overview a quit process; assess their commitment to quit; and choose whether or not to enter the quit class. This class is required for all first time cessation class clients. Pre-registration is necessary. Call 410 638-8405 to register.
The Quit Class
The "quit" class, a series of 5, one and a half hour sessions, is offered to all Harford County residents at no cost. Topics include developing a personal quit plan, stress management, diet and exercise in the quit process, and maintaining the "quit" over time. Qualified participants may receive free NRT products (patches, lozenges, or gum). Educational materials are distributed at each of the sessions. Pre-registration is required. Classes are offered at various locations throughout the county. Call 410 638-8405 for places and times.

THE QUITTERS CLUB will meet second and fourth Thursday evenings (beginning January 2008) at the Harford County Health Department from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. to offer support and encouragement for recent tobacco quitters. Contact 410 638-8405 for details.
Quit help for minors is offered on an as-requested basis through the School Tobacco Program Specialist (410 588-5365).

The Harford County Cancer & Tobacco Community Coalition, formed in 1999, continues to serve as the planning and advisory board for programs developed utilizing resources from the Cigarette Restitution Fund. Health Department personnel serve as coordinators for both the Tobacco and Cancer Sections of the Coalition.
