Cessation
- 8 week group program uses a comprehensive behavioral counseling and self help
approach.
- Includes nicotine replacement therapy.
- Also utilizes guest speakers, audio-visuals, & yoga.
- Testing and screenings: carbon monoxide
and spirometry.

Community Based
Programs: “Education is the Key”
- Reducing
tobacco use requires a partnership between the Health Department and local
community based organizations
- These
local organizations are funded through the Howard County Health Department
Tobacco Control Program which is supported by the Cigarette Restitution
Fund Program and targets the various minority populations within Howard County
- Groups
targeted include: Asians,
Hispanics, African Americans, Youth and UnInsured/UnderInsured.
School Based
Programs: “Keeping Kids Smoke-Free”
- Schools
in Howard County
are funded through the Howard County Health Department Tobacco Control
Program which is supported by the Cigarette Restitution Fund Program and
targets students at Howard County public schools, Howard
County private schools, Howard County
daycares, and Howard
Community College
