Tobacco Use Prevention and Cessation Program

Overview:

• Talbot County has worked hard in the tobacco control arena through the passage of legislation. In 1995Talbot was the first county to implement a smoking ban and in 2004 closed the gap that had exempted bar areas in restaurants. In 2001 the county passed a product placement law which prohibits tobacco products form being within reach of a customer.

Community:

• The community component has grown stronger each year through the use of mini-grants to a wide variety of recipients. Sports leagues, churches and non-profits in all segments of the community have helped educate residents through this community empowerment model.

Cessation: 

• Cessation: We offer group support, patches, gum or lozenges, buproprion and Chantix and self help literature.
