Smoking Prevention and Cessation
Pre-school program:
Annually reaches 1700 students between the age of 4-6 years about second hand smoke and the importance of never trying cigarettes. The theme of this program is changed every year:
1st year - The big bad wolf and the three little pigs (the wolf is the smoker)
2nd year - Puppets (Sam & Sally) Sam is a smoker and Sally is his friend who tries to get him to quit smoking
3rd year - Second hand smoke (places that are smoke free: planes, hospitals, etc.)
4th year - Sports (how it affects your lungs when playing sports)
5th year - Animals (second hand smoke affects everyone in the family)

- Zyban
- Self help brochures
Group Support program:
Thursdays at 12:00 p.m.
Wicomico Co. Health Dept.

Nicotine Patches or Zyban
$5 fee per 2-week supply
Based on the following:
- Reside in Wicomico County
- Attend support sessions for 10 weeks
- Obtain and return a signed Medical Clearance Form and Rx for the product. (Pick up at 1st class)

The weekly support group includes discussion on stress, triggers & withdrawal, weight gain, benefits of quitting, a real cancerous lung and healthy lung for the group to see and touch, and many other things associated with trying to quit smoking.
