America’s New Tobacco Crisis: The Wealthy Stopped Smoking, the Less Fortunate Didn’t

Most recent research has determined that although the majority of the population has quit smoking, many parts of the country that are low-income have not. This gap between those who do quit smoking and those who do not can be contributed to tobacco companies targeting those who are socioeconomically disenfranchised, those that lack education on smoking risks, and because lower socioeconomic individuals tend to continue smoking due to a higher level of stressors than their wealthier counterparts.
